Part of feeding your family with healthy meals involves good meal planning. It's also instrumental in keeping your food bill within budget. Here are my weekly grocery lists and meals for the week. Enjoy!
My meal budget is $600 for a family of 4. I spend $200 every other week and then $100 for the weeks in between to replenish some of the more perishable items like milk and fresh meat.
Shopping at different stores also let's me keep the budget under control. This includes shopping at Trader Joe's, Target, Gelson's (gourmet grocery store), and a local ethnic grocery store called Jons. The ethnic store is where I purchase most of my fresh fruits and veggies because they are priced to sell quick so the selection is always fresh due to the high turn over. In recent years I've begun shopping at the gourmet grocery store for my fresh fish and meats. I have found it less expensive than the organic giant Whole Foods, but it gives me just as much peace of mind that what I'm buying is fresh and free of extra added hormones.
Another challenge with my family, as many families share - we don't all eat/like the same foods. so often I'm making 4 different meals that compliment each other. I've made notes to indicate the different meal choices.

Saturday
(This time of the
year is crazy for us with sports lessons and games – my running joke is we feel
like that old army commercial that says we get more done by sunrise than most
people accomplish all day. Therefore, most of our meals for the day are eaten
out and on the go.)
